For as long as I can remember, I wanted to lose weight. In elementary school, I noticed that I was older than the other girls, but I didn’t really know what to do about it. I had already tried so many diets in high school, but I never succeeded. I was very active in high school, high school, playing volleyball, dancing, having fun. Nevertheless, it seems that the weight was still accumulating. This went on for me during my college and graduate years.

Over the years, it made me self-aware. But no matter how much I commit or tell myself that I will finally lose weight, I never did … until April 2020.

I came across an Instagram influence that was promoting Avatar nutrition, I decided to study it.

I was distracted by the availability of online coaching, flexibility և price. Desperate for anything to work, I decided to sign up և thank you so much for doing so. Avatar is a program for calculating macros (which is basically an accurate calorie count).

It follows the “if it fits your macro” mindset (or IIFYM, as many fitness and food fanatics call it) – that is, you can eat anything you want to lose weight as long as you stay within your macros.

There are so many reasons why this program works for me.

The biggest reason is that it helped me get rid of the “all or nothing” mentality through diet. It showed me that I can eat fun foods like brownies and ice cream և still see results. It works for me because it allows me to have in moderation all the foods I love and crave. It’s working for me because it taught me how to burn my body properly to feel my best while satisfying my cravings.

Here is what I eat during the day.

  • Breakfast. Turkey sausage breakfast with burrito protein coffee (This is the recipe!):
  • Lunch: Turkey և salami sandwich with carrot or some kind of chips.
  • Snacks: Strawberry:
  • Supper: Minced beef taco with homemade guacamole and green beans on one side.
  • Dessert: Rice cake with protein walnut butter.

    When I started my weight loss journey, I was recovering from hip surgery և All gyms were closed due to COVID.

    At first, I only used to walk our dog one to two miles, five to seven days a week. At home, I followed strength training programs using what I had (laundry detergent bottles, milk jugs, resistance band). I lost 10 pounds before going to the gym.

    When the gyms opened in early June 2020, I started regular strength training. Out of curiosity, I started training. I’ve read about how weights can help you lose weight, I’m not a fan of long cardio sessions. So I bought an upgrade guide from IG Affector և I started with that.

    When I started, I was addicted. Gaining weight is something I really enjoy, I love how strong it feels to me. Now, for me, a regular workout week is four days of strength training, at least 8,000 steps, six days a week.

    These three changes have made the biggest difference in my weight loss results.

    1. I train to enjoy, not to lose weight. I thought you had to burn 500 pounds on a cardiovascular machine to lose weight. When I started exercising with nice horses instead of trying to burn the most calories, I was actually stuck with exercise, it became a major part of my life. “I can not do now without my morning workout.
    2. I live a balanced lifestyle, I get into fun food whenever I want. You do not have to cut your favorite foods. You can eat cookies, pizza և cake; but maybe not all on the same day. There is no bad or good food, there just is food,
    3. I focus on eating protein-rich foods. Macro calculation has taught me that eating a high protein diet keeps me full and satisfied, which makes the experience of losing weight a little more enjoyable. Dishes such as lean turkey, chicken, beef and Greek yogurt are some of my favorites.

        I lost a total of 51 pounds, it took me 12 months.

        Losing weight has changed my life in many ways. I am happier, more confident in my own skin, much more active than I used to be. Overall, I feel much better.

        I did not have to limit myself to losing weight or spending hours on cardiovascular machines that I did not like to work out. I did not have to give up my favorite foods. I just had to constantly have a calorie deficit.

        During my journey I have been far from perfect, I have still reached my goal. You may have days when you suffer too much, miss training or days when they just do not come together. I used to always try to be perfect for weight loss. But consistency is what drives you to your goals.
